This is the maintainer's readme. It explains the admin page. If you're a visitor, the public guide is on the How to use page instead.
Everything is draft-until-approved. Visitors' event listings, reviews, dog profiles, park condition reports and sponsor inquiries sit in a queue here until you Approve them (or Delete/Decline). Nothing someone posts shows up publicly by itself — you are the gate before anything publishes. That keeps the site trustworthy and keeps spam out.
The landing panel. Live counts of approved dog profiles, published reviews, local sponsors and published events, plus a live weather line for reference. It's your at-a-glance health check.
People propose events on the Calendar. Approve to publish it, Delete to remove it. Approved events appear on the calendar and park pages.
Park reviews from visitors. Approve publishes them on the matching park page; Delete drops them.
Doggo profiles. Approve makes a dog visible in Doggo; Decline removes it. Below the queue is the list of approved dogs, so you can see what's live at a glance.
People flag things like dry water, out lights, or a closed gate. Approve publishes the note on the park page; Delete removes it. These are the "what people actually see here" notes, so keep them honest.
Local businesses apply to be listed as sponsors. Approve adds them to the Sponsors page; Delete removes them. You stay in control of who appears.
Type a short site-wide message and Save announcement. It shows in a banner across the site until you change or clear it. Good for closures, new parks, or a launch note.
Two fields, and both go live on their own the moment you save them:
ca-pub-…) — enables Google ads across the site. Note: Google must approve the site before ads actually display; that review can take days to a few weeks for a new site.sanfranciscodogparks-20) — turns the "Gear worth having" product links on every park page and guide into tagged commission links, and adds the partner line to ads.txt.Neither of these is a secret on the public site (both are public identifiers by design), but keep this page behind your password so the URLs stay tidy.
The products shown in the "Gear worth having" cards live in gear.json at the site root. Edit items there (name, one-line tagline, asin) to add or swap products. Changes go live on the next page load.
